This week we feature Janelle Meyer-Brown, who, along with her husband, is the owner of Story Hill FireHouse, a former fire station that now functions as a historic wedding and events venue. Read on to learn more about Janelle and her business.
Tell us about yourself, where you’re from and what you enjoy.
I am a mother of a teenager & wife! We live in Wauwatosa and we enjoy watching movies, hanging with our dog and if not working hard we like to be at home.
Why did you start your business? What makes you passionate about it?
Working events for the past 25+ years it is in the blood and we dreamed of having my own spot for years now….so we went for it. My husband is not in the hospitality business but is learning a lot as he works many of our events and is enjoying it! I think the people and being able to be creative is what makes me passionate about it. I love to make people happy!
What do you want people to know about your business?
This Firehouse is so special and is definitely one of a kind, just as your event should be! We purchased it in December 2018 and put a lot of work into reviving it and adding many great details. The 1927 Bungalow Style Firehouse is located just west of downtown Milwaukee. We want you to enjoy it as much as we do!
Please explain why your business is important to the community.
Story Hill FireHouse is nestled into the neighborhood and is a gathering place for anyone and everyone to enjoy their favorite people. We are hosting community events, soon to be working with many non-profits to help them raise funds for their passion/purpose and creating memories for our couples getting married and celebrating LOVE!
Anything else we should know?
Please call or email us for a tour, we would look forward to the opportunity to show you around this “Alarmingly Adorable” FireHouse.
