THE EVENT

Have you ever wanted to hear from the best and brightest culinary entrepreneurs and innovators in Houston?  Join us for Next Up, an exciting new series hosted by NextSeed on November 16th and you will!

Up and coming restaurateurs and business owners will get the chance to pitch their concepts to a panel of experienced business leaders in the Houston food and beverage scene. The panel will give live feedback, dig into business plans and provide advice on how to get that business to the next level.

The audience will engage in live voting for their favorite businesses and pitches, and they will also enjoy a sampling of local Houston businesses afterwards.

Roveen Abante, Managing Partner | Lincoln Bar, Virtue & Vice (est. Nov 2016)
After several software, web and app development ventures, Roveen expanded into the service industry. Starting with an investment in Midtown with Proof Rooftop Lounge in 2014, Roveen opened Lincoln Bar & Kitchen on Washington as a Managing Partner in 2015. This year, the team is expanding with a new nightclub and lounge (Virtue & Vice) and developing a new investment group to fund projects throughout 2017.

Jonathan Horowitz, CEO | Legacy Restaurant Group
Formerly a practicing attorney, Jonathan became a marketing, advertising and business consulting specialist in the hospitality field. He was the Chief Brand Officer for Lasco Enterprises for several years, building the brand and its restaurants into Houston favorites like The Tasting Room and Max’s Wine Dive. Jonathan joined Legacy Restaurant Group as CEO in 2016. Legacy owns and operates the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation and Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys.

Thomas Nguyen, Partner & CMO | Peli Peli Restaurant Group
Thomas is a partner and Chief Marketing Officer for the Peli Peli Restaurant Group, with two locations in Houston, Texas. Currently Peli Peli is ranked in the Top 5 in Houston on both TripAdvisor and Yelp.  In 2015, Thomas was named as one of Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and was recognized for his philanthropic efforts. The team launched Peli Peli Kitchen this October and is rolling out its third Peli Peli location in Katy early next year.

Kiran Verma, Owner & Executive Chef | Kiran’s Restaurant & Bar
With a lifelong love of cooking, Kiran traded in her banking career for the life of a chef, and she hasn’t looked back since. She opened her first restaurant, Ashiana’s, in the Energy Corridor. Seven years later, she opened her eponymous restaurant inside the loop. Bringing together Indian hospitality, French sophistication and American comfort, Kiran’s Restaurant & Bar has won multiple awards throughout the years. Kiran’s is slated to reopen in its new location later this year.

Rassul Zarinfar, Founder & CEO | Buffalo Bayou Brewery
Rassul is obsessed with beer. He followed his dream to open a brewery that made the kind of beer he liked to drink, launching Buffalo Bayou Brewery in 2012. Since then, the business has established a foothold as one of the top local breweries in the city. Buff Brew prides itself on being Houston’s “Most Creative” brewery, experimenting with small batches and constantly innovating.
